My story
Here's how I found my passion
Being born and raised in Reykjavik, on a small volcanic island called Iceland, where you’re taught that nothing is impossible, and that creativity, spontaneity, and the ability to adapt quickly to sudden change are essential, is something I consider one of my biggest advantages. My career started as a hairstylist in Iceland, which took me to London and then Paris, a role that taught me how to shape and work with form, colour, and, most importantly, people. After ten years of shaping form and colour as a hairstylist I felt the need for a new medium to express my creativity. That’s when I found graphic design. I completed a diploma in multimedia design, studying motion design, filmmaking and editing, photography, and how visual communication can be used to create engagement and connection. I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from the Icelandic Academy of the Arts in 2013. After several years of hard work as a graphic designer resulting in an award for my art direction I moved to Stockholm in 2016, where I have been based since 2016 and collaborated with multiple agencies and brands, both as an in-house creative lead and as a consultant, working with brands such as Arla, Synsam, and Bonava. Alongside my agency work, I entered Hyper Island 2020 where I completed my Master’s Degree in Digital Management, focusing on leadership, innovation, and business development which opened up a new and exciting path for me.
Today, I bring a wide range of skill sets that enable me to take on many types of creative and strategic projects, from hands-on design and art direction to ideation, strategy, and closing the loop with data-driven marketing.
My master’s research on how startups can succeed from building their brands from the ground up gave me the opportunity to support female founders at STING, Sweden's Leading Startup Accelerator with shaping their businesses and brand identities. That experience inspired me to start my own creative studio, where I led a small dynamic team of creatives that helped SMEs grow with clarity and confidence. One of our success stories is Beny Local, now one of Sweden’s leading providers of employee-benefit bikes. To strengthen the analytical side of my work, I completed Harvard Business School Online’s program in Online Marketing and Brand Strategy, with a focus on neuromarketing. This has allowed me to connect brand strategy with data-driven execution, continuously looking for new ways to reach growth goals by differentiating, testing, analysing and then optimising for efficiency. It’s been a journey that started with cutting hair and evolved into building brands, always grounded in pushing my limits by being curiously creative.
